Photography studio 1:2:1 training program
My unique style and techniques are focusing on both technical skills and creative vision. 1:2:1 studio photography lessons are designed to encourage students to explore methods that I utilise in my portrait photography business, including my approach to composition, lighting, and storytelling through images. By analysing work and techniques, students gain insight into both the artistic and practical aspects of photography, helping them to develop a distinctive, personal style while mastering foundational skills in visual storytelling and photographic expression.
Class 1
Lighting Fundamentals & Studio Practice
In the initial 4-hour session, participants will explore the key differences between hard and soft lighting,
Session will also cover single-light & two-light setups.
Class 2
Posing Techniques and Client Interaction
Students will dive into the essential principles of posing, with a focus on creating flattering and elegant portraits. This includes understanding body language, angles, and movements that enhance the female form in portrait photography.
Class 3
Lightroom: Library and Develop Module
Participants will work with both the Library and Develop modules in Adobe Lightroom.
Participants will explore a comprehensive range of editing tools and functions.
Class 4
Photoshop Retouching Techniques: Enhancing Portraits with Professional Tools.
In this session, participants will delve into essential Photoshop techniques for achieving flawless, natural-looking skin in portrait retouching.
Price List:
Both Class 1 & 2 includes learning with a model.
Each class is 4 hours long and includes the cost of the model.
Single day of class 1 or 2
(4 hour each) : £360
Class 3 & 4 do not
include model
but you will need to bring your own computer with Lightroom or/and photoshop installed.
Single day of class 3 or 4
( 4 hours each) : £270
Students are welcome to choose any classes in any order of minimum 2 classes.
If all 4 classes are booked at outset a 5% discount will be applied.
A non refundable Deposit of £150 required for securing your booking with full payment required before the assigned date.

Lighting Fundamentals & Studio Practice
In the initial 4-hour session, participants will explore the key differences between hard and soft lighting, understanding how each effects the mood in photography. Through hands-on practice you will work with a variety of lighting modifiers including, beauty dish, umbrella, soft boxes to see first-hand how these tools shape and diffuse light. The session will also cover foundational studio lighting setups, beginning with single-light arrangements to establish a strong grasp of shadow control, then, progressing to two-light setups to enhance depth and layering. By the end of your session, participants will be equipped to make intentional lighting choices suited to different portrait styles. A handout easy guide will be supplied for your reference to take away.
You will leave with:
A working knowledge of studio lighting with both a single and multiple lighting sources. The effects of beauty dish, umbrella, soft boxes utilised in a studio setting.
Posing Techniques and Client Interaction:
In this session, participants will dive into the essential principles of posing, with a focus on creating flattering and elegant portraits. They will learn specific techniques for guiding the model into poses that highlight their best features and bringing out their natural beauty. This includes understanding body language, angles, and movements that enhance the female form in portrait photography. Additionally, participants will practice effective communication skills to build rapport, make clients feel comfortable and give clear, supportive direction. By the end of the session, they will be equipped to confidently interact with clients and create stunning, professional portraits.

A working knowledge on how to pose for portraits. How to instruct models to accentuate body shape and form.
Lightroom: Library and Develop Modules:
Participants will work with both the Library and Develop modules in Adobe Lightroom.
In the Library module, participants will learn efficient methods for organising and reviewing their photos, using tools to rate, flag, and categorise images. This process will streamline the workflow, making it easier to identify the best images for retouching and further editing.
Moving into the Develop module, participants will explore a comprehensive range of editing tools and functions. We’ll dive into each tool’s purpose and functionality, covering essential panels like the Basic panel for fundamental adjustments such as exposure, contrast, and clarity, and the Colour Mixer for precise colour adjustments. Colour Grading to enhance mood and tone, utilise the Transform panel to correct perspective, and work with the Lens Blur panel to add depth and focus to images. A general guide of tips will be supplied at the end of the session for future reference.

Photoshop Retouching Techniques: Enhancing Portraits with Professional Tools
In this session, participants will delve into essential Photoshop techniques for achieving flawless, natural-looking skin in portrait retouching. We will cover advanced methods such as Frequency Separation, a technique that separates texture and colour for fine-tuned control over skin detail, and Dodge and Burn, which is used to subtly lighten or darken areas to enhance depth and contours, creating a polished yet authentic look.
Participants will gain hands-on experience with a range of powerful Photoshop tools that professional retouchers rely on. These include the Brush Tool and Mixer Brush, which are ideal for softening and blending tones; the Healing Brush and Patch Tool for removing blemishes and imperfections; the Clone Stamp for duplicating textures seamlessly; and the Quick Selection Tool for efficiently selecting and isolating areas of the image for targeted adjustments.
Throughout the session, we’ll discuss best practices for preserving natural skin texture while making corrective edits and highlight techniques for maintaining a non-destructive workflow.
